Organic Pet Food – Is it Worth it? (pp. 225-238) $100.00
Authors:  (Jennifer C. Kareklas, Bloomingrove Veterinary Hospital)
Abstract:
Organic pet food is a relatively new option for consumers. Should
consumers pay more and/or spend extra time to ensure the food they
purchase for their pets is organic? The answer to this question largely
depends on the individual consumer’s values. This chapter reviews the
main reasons consumers cite for choosing organics and discusses how the
options presented by the pet food industry in the current market may or
may not align well with consumer values. Primary determinants of the
cost to benefit and value to convenience ratios depend upon individual
perceptions of organic pet food manufacturing, labeling, price, and
availability.
