Abstract: Access networks such as Fixed BroadbandWireless Network are cost effective so- lutions to broadband applications in areas with poor infrastructure and to developing countries, thereby gaining advantages over traditional wired technologies. However, multimedia applications, such telemedicine and video conferencing, have different de- mands of bandwidth and service level agreement. An adequate radio resource manage- ment is a fundamental point to allow a satisfactory performance of such systems. This chapter will address the main radio resource management mechanisms, the current challenges and will end with a case study on a typical scenario.
