Biomass Pelletization for Energy Production (pp. 125-136) $100.00
Authors:  (Hui Wang, Lijun Wang and Abolghasem Shahbazi, Biological Engineering Program, Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Design, North Carolina A&T State University, Greensboro, NC, USA)
The low density, low heating value, high volume and high transportation cost
characteristics of biomass including both woody biomass and agriculturally produced
residues are a significant impediment to biomass utilization. These difficulties can be
largely overcome through densification, also called pelletization. It is an effective
approach to use low density cellulosic feedstocks and offers an opportunity to make
biomass easier to handle and transport. This chapter focuses on the recent developments
in the biomass pelletization technology and application in energy production.
