Abstract:
The aim of this chapter is to explore the psychological burden of epilepsy in developing world as a consequence of stigmatization and prevalent cultural beliefs, to survey reported incidence and prevalence of seizure disorders, to emphasize financial constrains of diagnostic modalities and treatments as pertaining to antiepileptic therapies and surgical interventions, and to provide examples of global and regional initiatives addressing the existing treatment gaps between industrial and non-industrial nations.
