Reflections on the Findings of Uscinski and Simon, and Blessing, Skleder, and You on Rater Bias and Presidential Rankings
Authors: Tim H. Blessing
Abstract: I use the preceding articles by Uscinski and Simon and by Blessing, Skleder, and You as a starting point to create a hypothesis relating to the construction of presidential reputationsówhich both articles indicate are rather flawed. I reflect on the importance of political and ideological influences of the presidents. I also establish why I differ from Uscinskiís and Simonís view of the temporal importance of a presidentís chronological setting and respond to their criticism of my methodology regarding temporal influence and presidential evaluations.
