The Control and Worry-Centered Treatment of Eating Disorders (CWT-ED) $43.00
Authors:  Sandra Sassaroli and Giovanni Maria Ruggiero
Abstract:
The control and worry-centered treatment of eating disorders (CWT-ED) is a variant of the standard cognitive treatment for eating disorders (ED) that assumes that the assessment and the treatment of worry and of the belief of control will increase the understanding of the psychopathology of ED and the efficacy of cognitive treatment. Objective: This paper outlines the steps of the CWT-ED. Methods: The treatment of worry encompasses four steps: 1) assessing worry; 2) recognizing worry as an intentional state; 3) assessing the intentional goals of worry; 4) reframing the patientís attitude towards worry and training him or her to stop worrying. Treating the belief of control encompasses four steps: 1) assessing the belief in control; 2) assessing the connection between control of eating, weight, and food and the perception of general control of life; 3) reframing the belief of insufficient control; 4) reframing the compulsion for absolute control.
