High pressure diecasting (HPDC), in which molten metal is injected at high velocity into a die cavity, now accounts for over half of all aluminium castings worldwide. This manufacturing process has proved particularly suitable for the mass production of components, notably those with complex shapes. Due to the low costs associated with mass production, HPDC is also favored for use in the transport sector.
