Journal Editors: J. Paulo Davim

Journal Description:
The word Tribology derives from the Greek "tribo," meaning “to rub,” and “logos,” meaning “principle or logic.” Tribology is the “science and technology of interacting surfaces in relative motion.” It includes the research and application of principles of friction, wear, and lubrication. Recently, micro/nanotribology has been gaining ground. Frictional interactions in small scale are becoming increasingly important for the development of new products in mechanics, chemistry, electronics, life sciences, sensors, and by extension for all modern technology.

Surface engineering is a truly interdisciplinary topic in materials science that deals with the surface of solid matter. Surface engineering techniques are being used in the automotive, aircraft, aerospace, missile, electronic, biomedical, textile, petrochemical, chemical, moulds and dies, machine tools, and construction industries. Surface engineering techniques can be used to develop a wide range of functional properties, including physical, chemical, electrical, electronic, magnetic, mechanical, wear, and corrosion properties at the required substrate surfaces. Almost all types of materials, including metals, polymers, ceramics, composites, biomaterials and nanomaterials can be coated on similar or dissimilar materials.

The “Journal of Tribology and Surface Engineering” (JTSE) is an interdisciplinary, international Journal that publishes refereed, high-quality articles with a special emphasis on research and development in recent advances in tribology and surface engineering. JTSE provides discussion and the exchange of information on all aspects of tribology and surface engineering for modern industry.

JTSE publishes full research articles, review articles, technical notes, and cases studies. Proposals for special issues on selected topics reflecting recent tribology and surface engineering advances or on select articles of conferences can be submitted directly to the Editor-in-Chief.
